The Princeton University Department of Politics is pleased to announce that Hye Young You has joined the department. You is an associate professor of politics and public affairs, appointed jointly in Politics and the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.
Professor You specializes in political economy, interest groups, lobbying and campaign contributions, and American political institutions. Her primary research focuses on how interest groups influence democratic representation in the United States. “Not only has she established herself as a leading scholar of the role of business and other interest groups in policymaking, she is an institution builder who brings scholars together to work on important problems. Even at her relatively early career stage, she has become a mentor and role model for numerous younger faculty and graduate students through the discipline. Her energy will be transformative at Princeton,” said Nolan McCarty, Susan Dod Brown Professor of Politics and Public Affairs.
You holds a Ph.D. in political economy from Harvard University. Her research has appeared in the American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, and other outlets. Professor You’s work has been recognized by five discipline-wide best paper awards from the American Political Science Association.
