Taehwa Hong is a PhD Candidate in Politics at Princeton University and a Eurasia Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute. His research interests lie in the intersection of alliance politics, security studies, and grand strategy.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Taehwa was engaged in South Korea’s foreign policy circle. Taehwa was a regular columnist for Joongang Ilbo and Shindonga, writing on international affairs. He advised Korean political leaders in the government and the National Assembly on foreign policy. He was formerly a research assistant and intern at think tanks, including Foreign Policy Research Institute, Hoover Institution, Institute of National Security Studies (Israel), Freeman Spogli Institute, Korea Economic Institute, and the EastWest Institute. Taehwa’s previous writings have appeared in Foreign Policy, The Business Times, Asia Times, YaleGlobal, and The Fletcher Forum of World Affairs.
Taehwa holds a MPhil degree in Politics and International Studies from the University of Cambridge, and a BA in International Relations (Phi Beta Kappa) at Stanford University.
