Hani is a PhD student in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. He researches comparative politics in the Middle East and North Africa. Substantively his work focuses on the relationship between colonialism, postcolonial politics, and contemporary political identity in societies that have experienced imperial rule; his work integrates comparative politics with theoretical insights and methodology from social psychology and history. Hani holds an M.A. (with Honors) from the University of Chicago and a B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Pennsylvania.
