Addressing Complex Policy Challenges Through the Lens of Progress: The Value of Narrative Case Studies in Scholarship, Policy Making, and Journalism

Friday, September 30, 12:15, Robertson Hall Bowl 1 (001) Lunch available

This panel brings together three people who have thought deeply about the use of the narrative case study as an essential tool for learning and for fostering change. Michael Woolcock introduces the use of narrative cases to promote better development policy making. Michael Kimmelman and Matt Thompson discuss their aims creating The New York Times Headway series, which explores the world’s challenges through the lens of progress. The event celebrates the May 2022 Cambridge University Press release of The Case for Case Studies, an Open Access book in which Professors Achen, Moravcsik, and Widner—and our former colleague Tom Pavone—all have chapters.
