Yunhyae Kim will join the faculty of the Department of Politics as an Assistant Professor in 2026 after serving as a Professional Specialist (2025-26). Her research lies at the intersection of social and political philosophy, democratic theory, and political economy.
Her primary project argues that we should reconceive of the democratic political order as jointly constituted not just by how we organize formal politics, but also by how we organize production and investment.
She is also interested in feminist theory, focusing on the informal economy of “care work” as well as the politico-economic dimensions of the green transition (decarbonization).
She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy at Harvard University in 2025. She holds B.A.s in Philosophy and Economics from Seoul National University.
