How does the provision of leisure and entertainment goods by authoritarian states -- that is to say, policies and projects that increase citizen happiness and well-being -- impact citizen support for these regimes? This project examines how states like Saudi Arabia have heavily invested in the development of theme parks, movie theaters, green spaces and domestic tourist sites, and how this affects citizen political attitudes and behavior. I present the results of an initial pilot experiment and a new experiment design testing how these types of projects change attitudes via positive affect.
