Developing Democracies
Instructor: RoCÍO TITIUNIK
This practicum introduces students to strategies and principles for conducting research on developing democracies and related areas. This includes not only challenges to democratic consolidation in developing countries, but also obstacles to effective representation in consolidated democracies. Students will learn how to pose a research question, how to develop hypotheses, and how to organize a research plan. Special attention will be paid to research design and the assumptions that are needed to harness empirical data to evaluate scientific hypotheses.
