Seeking Research Assistants: Transformation of Foreign Aid & International Development Finance

Visiting Scholar Nicolas Bau (Politics and SPIA) and Professor Simone Dietrich (University of Geneva), seek applications for paid research assistant positions for two projects on the transformation of foreign aid and international development finance. The projects seeks to understand what drives the current shifts we observe in development finance allocation. The students will contribute to the ongoing research efforts of an international research team led by Professor Simone Dietrich (University of Geneva). They will join other research assistants based in Switzerland and in the U.S. Students may work on tasks spanning across the different research projects outlined above.

1st opportunity: U.S. Firms Lobbying in International Development and Energy Security. In this project the research team studies how U.S. firms lobby the U.S. Government and how it shapes development finance. The students will be asked to: 

  • Search for organizational and financial information for a selected sample of companies.
  • The student will use Capital IQ Pro to find and extract the information in a readable and analyzable format.
  • The task does not require prior experience with the software and students will be trained by a research team member on how to use it.

2nd opportunity: The Governance of Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). The students will help collect and encode original biographic information on policy leaders who govern DFIs across OECD countries to better understand how individual characteristics shape the design of development projects around the world. The students will be asked to: 

  • Search for biographical information on officials across different donor countries using Linkedin.
  • Encoding the collected information in a standardized format.

Required Skills:

  • Applicants must be fluent in English (native or C1 level)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel 

Preferred Skills: 

  • Knowledge of French and/or German is a plus (B2/C1).
  • Knowledge about / interest in international development. 
    Hourly rate:  $16.92 for undergraduate students.

Conditions to apply: 

  • Being allowed to work in the United States.
  • Students will be paid by the University of Geneva, Switzerland.

HMEI Summer 2026 Environmental Internships - Apply Now

The Hight Meadows Environmental Institute (HMEI) Internship Program offers fully funded internships in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and engineering—here on campus, and in the field from Colorado to Costa Rica. Princeton undergraduates from all majors who wish to expand their knowledge of environmental issues are encouraged to apply. This internship program offers students the opportunity to complement their academic study with hands-on research and project experiences during the summer.

Princeton first-year students, sophomores and juniors from all departments are invited to apply for these fully funded internships in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and engineering—here on campus, and in the field from Colorado to Costa Rica and beyond. HMEI provides a weekly stipend and covers international flights. Each summer, scores of Princeton undergraduate students from all disciplines participate in these internships, gaining real-world experience while complementing their academic study with hands-on experiences, and contributing to research on climate change, environmental policy, biodiversity and conservation, water and agriculture, and more.

The Harper Review - Call for Submissions

The Harper Review, a review of politics and culture run by University of Chicago students is now looking for essays and shorter “letters” for their winter issue. They're interested in essays that are 1,500–2,500 words and thoughtfully explore cultural and political phenomena, without academic jargon or vogue.

They're also looking for shorter “letters” (4–5 paragraphs or 400–600 words) responding to the statement “The party’s over.” Argue in favor, against, or that the statement itself is flawed—we want to hear it all. 

Submissions for the winter issue will be accepted until January 4th. Drafts and/or writing samples can be sent to harperreview@gmail.com

Volunteer to Launch Princeton’s High School Ethics Bowl (1/31)

Come volunteer and help launch the first-ever NJ High School Ethics Bowl at Princeton on January 31, 2026. The Ethics Bowl is a national competition where high school students tackle some of the most challenging real-world ethical questions, and you can be part of the team that makes it happen! They are looking for both undergraduate and graduate students to serve as judges, moderators, and event assistants.

Come on Out - Japan, 2026 Programs

Come on Out has been working with Princeton to offer students an opportunity to mentor high school students in Japan over the summer. Applications are now open for their highly subsidized summer internship programs, the 2026 Global English Camp as well as the 2026 Traveling Mentor Program.

Come on Out programs have university students and recent graduates facilitating conversations with small groups of students over the course of 4-5 weeks, focusing on facilitating cross-cultural connection, discussing global issues, and supporting students in discussing their life ambitions.

Henry Clay Center’s College Student Congress

The Henry Clay Center works with current and future leaders to honestly, critically, and intelligently reflect on matters of national significance; debate the merits of those issues and ultimately find the strength of character needed to arrive at a compromise and solve the problems that hinder America’s process of continual improvement for all Americans.

The College Student Congress is a two-week summer program tailored for undergraduates, designed to cultivate essential personal character skills vital for future leaders in the realms of public policy, politics, diplomacy, and contemporary leadership. The summer program in public policy selects fifty-one rising college seniors, representing each state and the District of Columbia, to learn about the dynamics of the policy process through an experiential and immersive curriculum. Students engage with lawmakers, academics, government relations experts, policy advisors and other leaders to explore the challenges of formulating comprehensive public policy.

UN Watch is currently accepting applications for the Morris B. Abram Fellowship to begin in September 2026. The fellowship is designed to train recent college graduates and is a one-year, full-time salaried position. Previous UN Watch Fellows have gone on to distinguished careers in law, government, diplomacy, human rights and journalism. Alumni include the former editor-in-chief of Foreign Policy magazine.
